Bertha Voisine braided rug

Scope and Contents

This collection consists of one multicolored oval braided rug made by Bertha Bouley Voisine. All the braid strips are a half inch wide when doubled and are machine sewn prior to braiding and lacing of the rug. The middle part of the rug has some red, white, and blue colors and the outer part of the rug has some red, purple, and gray colors. It measures 35 inches x 21 inches.

Scope and Contents This collection consists of one Jacquard woven afghan measuring 45 inches wide by 69 inches long with a fringe border. The afghan depicts all the catholic churches of the St. John Valley and their names woven in black on a light gray-colored background. Also, depicted in the center of the afghan are the names of L’Association Française de la Vallée St-Jean; Le Centre Français Madawaska; La maison Mikesell; and the flag representing le centre français. This collection consists of one patchwork blanket made by Lillie Hebert Gagnon when she was 98 years old. The squares used for the blanket are of different materials and different colors and measure 7 inches by 7 inches. The blanket measures 69 inches by 48.5 inches. It is in very good condition.
